Two Weeks for The Price of One

Ok Ok So I know I have been slack, I apologies for that, actually why am I apologising no bugger reads this, do they?
So what's been happening in the wonderful world of Storm? OK here is a brief round up.

On Tuesday the 4th of Sept myself and Mrs Storm visited William Morris House in Walthamstow to listen to a talk with the artist Grayson Perry, known to many as the Tranny Potter!! He was discussing the notions of brands and especially brand in relation to artists and taste. It was a great talk, he is very knowledgeable and funny and down to earth. And what's more we got some Perry goods signed by him so that's te mortgage on the place in Venice sorted!
Bit annoyed he didn't wear a dress though!

Thursday soon came around and the opening of the Religious Violenta group show at London's Westbank Gallery. Both myself and Nicky were lucky enough to be chosen to show, her with a photograph and me with one of my sculptures. It was a great show full of some fabulous work. Organised by Gonny Van Hulst and Kane Kali of KGB Productions who did a fabulous job!

Mrs Storms Photo 'Hard Father'

The following day I travelled to Putney, lovely part of the world at the end of the Kings Road to meet Louise. She won the portrait competition way back in April and I was finally able to present it to her. She was very pleased with it, which is just as well because I was not taking it back home or exchanging it for its monetary value! LOL

Then I did some work!!

On Thursday the 20th we popped along to the 5th anniversary soiree at Signal Gallery. Was a good night and as ever some great work on the walls.

The weekend came around and me and Mrs Storm decided to dust off our 80's clobber and head over to the Borderline Club in Soho to see Kip Winger in concert. Kip was and still is the front man for rock band Winger. Mrs Storm first saw him in concert in with Winger 20 years ago. It was a great show and we got to meet up with him afterwards for a chat and photos. She was very happy to meet one of her teenage idols!

The Book Thing

So I announced this week that I was writing a book about my journeys through the world of contemporary and urban art, and boy what a stir it's causing. I have been involved with the 'arts' for about 30 years and only came to the world of urban art relatively recently, 4 to 5 years, so I have seen plenty of comings and goings in my time.
I have also met and worked with some extraordinary people during that time, I have had the privilege to meet and be taught by and become friends with some of this countries most talented artists and am very happy that I can call a number of them very good friends.
However! I have also experienced some of the worst that the art world has to offer to, I have been able to observe the ruthless coming and goings from the sidelines as a spectator and as a victim and a player in the dramas so I thought I would document it, as it would make for a good read, well I'll enjoy it at the very least!

So the book is about me, art, artists, the true professionals, the scammers, the wannabes, the duckers and divers,  the rip off merchants, the big talkers, the fakes, the personalities the people that do and the people that don't, the unprofessional galleries, dealers, promoters and agents, bad business partners, bad business, the auction houses, the hangers on, the haters, the lovely people and all those in between.

As I said I have spent a lot more time in the contemporary art world than I have in the urban/street art world however the reaction from the street art world has been amusing. Already threats of legal action, violence, some demanding to be left out some demanding to be left in, lots of gossip thrown my way lots of bitching and sniping and people wanting me to settle scores for them by passing info on others! Oooooh lordy its going to be one hot potato. Hopefully it will be complete in about a year or so, depending on what pops up in the meantime!

NEW SHOW

Very excited that myself and Mrs Storm are exhibiting next week at KGB Projects' Religionis Violenta group show at the West Bank Gallery in Westbourne Grove, London. The show is one big old blasphemous romp and I am delighted we were both chosen to exhibit. Mrs Storm is showing a photo and I am showing one of my sculptures. really looking forward to it!!!

MUMMIES LITTLE SOLDIER!

This week saw me release a print of one of the new oils set to be unveiled for my New York show as and when it happens, details are still a bit sketchy for times dates etc but we are soldiering on.
Anyway I have been getting lots of requests from lovely people who like my work and have not seen anything new for a while. So as a teaser for the NY show I have released 'Mummies Little Soldier' as an A1 print in a limited edition of only 5 A1's with 2 AP's. Both of the AP's went immidiately, actually they went before they went live on the site! Wooowhoooo
I will also be releasing an A2 more cost effective version nearer to December to shamelessly cash in on Christmas!

Must Make More of An Effort

Whoa!
Its been a while since I did my blog but as only about 1 person ever reads it there have not been howls of derision at its absence, so whats new pussycat?
Lets think.
Well the Olympics came and went, and now the Paralympics have arrived and I have been having arguments about which Paralympians I could beat but lets not go there for fear of causing offence!

So since the last bloggette I have another painting completed, with 4 more on the go, its a nightmare of gargantuan proportions but its does make you work harder and that helps make you more manic and creative! That's a little peek of 'Pimp My Child' a painting about those horrific children's pageants they have in the USA that are making their way over to the UK.

Stunning Portrait by Sadie Lee

On Thursday myself and Mrs Storm headed out into deepest darkest Hoxton to see a couple of shows, one a solo show by the super talented Sadie Lee, I love Sadies work and she is a top lady too so a double bonus for a Thursday, and then we trotted a few street over to see the Team Robbo show which was choc full of some really nice pieces of work!

KING ROBBO

What else happened? Oh I was in a show down in Weston Super Mare curated and staged by the lovely Lilly Kate Hillage and the , well lets just say Jamie Scanlon LMAO, it was a show of collaborations and I collaborated with Stealer Artman. I had done a computer generated piece of the virgin Mary and he painted his own version on top of it and we then covered it in clear resin, came out very nice indeed, dont think any bugger has bought it though, Philistines!!!!
